What is C-CAT?
C-CAT (computerized Common Admission Test) is an exam conducted by C-DAC for admissions to all Post Graduate Diploma courses of C-DAC.
Why C-CAT?
According to the Ministry of Education in India, the number of students who graduated from higher education institutions in India during the academic year 2019-2020 was approximately 43 lakhs( approx 4.3 million).
According to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2019-20, a total of 16.84 lakh (1.684 million) students graduated in engineering and technology courses in India during that academic year.However, there have been reports of a significant number of engineering graduates in India who are either unemployed or underemployed.
One of the reasons for this is that there is a mismatch between the skills of the graduates and the requirements of the job market.

When C-CAT?
Every year, C-CAT is conducted in December / January (for February / March admissions) and June / July (for August / September admissions).Admissions to all Post Graduate Diploma courses of C-DAC are done through C-DAC’s computerized Common Admission Test (C-CAT).
